Girl Scouts
WHERE GIRLS GROW STRONG
Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character,
who make the world a better place.
Girl Scouting is a continuous adventure in learning that offers every girl a broad range of activities which address both her current interests and her future role as a woman. Through activities that stimulate self-discovery, girls are introduced to the excitement in the worlds of science, the arts, the out-of-doors, well-being, and people. Girls develop new skills and grow in self-confidence. They have fun and make new friends, and through meaningful community service they acquire a new understanding about themselves and others. Through Girl Scouting girls acquire the knowledge, skills and leadership experience to achieve their personal goals.
The primary mission of scouting is to inspire girls with the highest ideals of character, conduct, patriotism, and service that they may become happy and resourceful citizens. Scouting is more than just camping and crafts, it’s about family, community and faith. As scout troops sponsored by a Catholic School and Parish, we have the perfect opportunity to incorporate our faith into scouting. Every scout at Sacred Heart has the opportunity to expand their faith beyond the boundaries of church and school. Scouts at Sacred Heart are encouraged to earn the various Catholic Religious Awards available to Girl Scouts at all levels
At Sacred Heart of Jesus School, we have more than 75 girls and 15 adults registered in Girl Scouting, from Daisy Scouts in kindergarten to Cadette Scouts in 8th grade. In addition, there are many other girls in scouting that belong to our parish. Of those girls, 26 Brownie Girl Scouts were presented with the “Family of God” award, 3 Junior Girl Scouts were presented with the “I Live My Faith” award” and currently, 6 Cadette Girl Scouts are working on the Marian Medal. In addition, 6 Cadette Girl Scouts have earned 3 out of a series of 4 patches in “The Rosary Patch” series.
If you are a girl in kindergarten through high school, and you are looking to expand your horizons beyond the typical offerings at your school and community, then scouting is the place for you. Contact Girl Scouts Mile High Council at 303-778-8774 for a troop in your area or school. For girls attending Sacred Heart of Jesus School, please contact the school office for more information.
If you are currently a Girl Scout and would like to learn more about earning the Catholic Religious Awards, contact the school office for more information.
