Our Art Teacher

Patrice Wilmot - Art - Kindergarten through 8th Grade

Ms. Wilmot received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Art Institute of Chicago. In addition to her work at the Art Institute, she fulfilled academic requirements for her degree at the University of Chicago. Education has been a personal focus all her life, and she has taken numerous education and art courses at the University of Colorado, University of Northern Colorado, and University of Minnesota, in addition to taking classes at institutions such as Crow Canyon and Skyloom Fabrics.

Mrs. Wilmot’s art interests include ceramics, beadwork, fiber arts, sculpture, and jewelry making. She is a member of the National and Colorado Art Associations, Denver Art Museum, and the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art. She has fallen in love with activities such as cross-country skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and being out of doors whenever possible.

She completed her student teaching at Libertyville High School in Illinois and became a part-time teacher at the school. The draw of the mountains after a visit to Colorado was too strong and she moved here shortly after the visit. She resumed teaching in the Denver Public School system as a school substitute for all subjects and as a long-term substitute in art. This occurred after working several years and becoming a part owner of an upstart computer company. After working in DPS for several years, she took time out to raise her family, returning to substitute teaching at Sacred Heart of Jesus School in 1995. She became the full-time art teacher in 1998.

Ms. Wilmot wrote on the board the first day of class, “Welcome to my favorite class--ART!” She is thrilled to be teaching art at Sacred Heart.
