Curriculum - Middle School Religion

6th Grade: TEXT: Christ our Life, Good News Bible

Christ Our Life: In the 6th Grade curriculum for Religion, the students will take a journey through the exploration of the biblical roots of our faith, focusing on the history of salvation as it is told in the books of the Old Testament. Using the Bible, the students will be challenged to discover the Word of God and apply it’s meaning to their own lives.

*We will also go on a Spiritual Retreat.

7th Grade: TEXT: Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life, The New American Bible.

In 7th grade we study the life and teachings of Jesus along with a review of basic Catholic doctrine. The secondary text is The New American Bible and students begin biblical studies. Seventh grade students learn about our Judeo-Christian roots by studying Jewish holidays and customs.

8th Grade: TEXT: The New American Bible

In 8th grade Religion we concentrate on biblical studies and church history. The primary textbook is The New American Bible. The first trimester quarter, 8th graders read and study the entire Gospel of Mark and . Second quarter, Second trimester, we begin church history by reading and studying the Acts of the Apostles. Third quarter, we We continue to study the history of the church to the Reformation. Fourth quarter, 8th grade studies Religions of the World. We end the year with a brief study of the religions of Judaism and Islam.
