Absences
When your child is absent from school, it is REQUIRED that a legal parent/guardian telephone the school office at
(303) 447-2362 by 8:30 a.m. This ruling is to safeguard your child; it is a check on safe arrival at school. During non-school hours, calls are taken by an answering machine for your convenience. You may call prior to school hours to indicate your child’s absence or to leave other messages.
If you know your child will be absent for an extended period, please send a note to the office with the dates and reason for the absence. Please leave your cell or appropriate phone number with the office.
When a child returns to school, a note from the parent/guardian is required, giving the specifics of the absence and presented to the homeroom teacher.
Early Dismissals
Students may only be taken out of school for legitimate reasons. Parents are encouraged to try to make medical appointments at times other than during school hours. However, we realize that this is not always possible.
If your child is to be dismissed for any reason during school hours, a written note is required for the teacher. Students will be released from the school office only. Parents must come into the school office and sign the student out. The office will call the child’s classroom and have the child come to the office to be picked up. Students will not be released to anyone from the classrooms. Parents may not go to the classrooms and interrupt the educational process to pick up their child.
