Father Terry onThings I Have Heard Saturday, Aug 15
Over the years, I have heard people say things that point to the mediocrity of our spiritual practice: the way that we tend to judge, compare and contrast with others and the avoidance of the hard work, the fortitude it takes to change our lives for the better.
"I got nothing out of this", says the person who went to church one time. Do you go to a department store only once because they did not have what you wanted that day? "I wish my life were better." Do you know what better is? Are you waiting for someone to make it better? "Meditation is a waste of time." But some of the other things you do are not? "I prefer to be by myself"." Do you know the difference between solitude and isolation? "Thank God I am not like that person." Maybe they are saying the same about you?
Open to anyone interested in the spiritual life and/or recovery. Saturday, Aug 15, 9 to 11:30 am, at St Vincent Church, Midland Ave, Basalt, CO 81621. Freewill offering. Refreshments will be served. Contact Carrie, 970.584.3572 /
