Church and School Relocation Information

The following are the steps of approval that have to be received before we can go ahead with a relocation of our parish:

1. Parish Planning Committee
2. Parish Building Committee
3. Parish Finance Council
4. SHJ School Advisory Council
5. Parish Pastoral Council
6. General agreement from the SHJ parishioners
7. Priests of the Deanery (priests in Boulder and Broomfield counties)
8. The Archdiocesan Presbyteral Council
9. The Office of Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese
10. The various Archdiocesan offices and staff members
11. The Archdiocesan Real Estate Committee
12. The Archdiocesan Property, Finance and Real Estate Committee
13. The Archdiocesan Building and Construction Committee
14. The Judicial Vicar of the Archdiocese
15. The Archdiocesan College of Consultors
16. The Archbishop
17. The Vatican, because the “alienation of church property” would be for over $10 million.
18. Approvals from the City and county of Boulder
19. Design of the new campus and building
20. CONSTRUCTION

That is 20 levels of approval. Steps 1, 2, 3 and 7 have given their approval so far. There is a long way to go before we reach step 17 (Vatican approval), so the deal does not become “a done deal” until Rome has had its say.
