Thank you for your interest in becoming a Gabriel Project
Volunteer! We currently have 6 trained volunteers in our Parish, four women
and two men. Our volunteers work in the following roles:
Angel: A woman parishioner who is paired up
with a Gabriel Project Mom to assess the Mom’s needs and provide
emotional and spiritual support to the Mom. The Angel helps the Mom
by suggesting local agencies and charities that may be able to meet
the Mom’s needs and working with the Parish to coordinate any
assistance that the Parish may be able to provide. This involves regular
meetings with the Mom as long as she needs help.
Michael: A male parishioner who is paired up
with a male friend or relative of the Gabriel Project Mom, (e.g. the
husband/boyfriend or father of the Gabriel Project Mom), who provides
emotional, spiritual and practical support, as available, to that
male friend or relative.
Other Volunteer Roles: As the Gabriel Project
as SHJ matures and expands, other roles will be added to meet the
needs.
All Gabriel Project Volunteers are required
to attend a 2-day training session hosted by the Archdiocese of Denver.
These training sessions are typically offered twice a year in Spring
and Fall. Volunteers who may
be working with anyone under the age of 18 in the course of their
volunteer work, must also attend the Safe Environment training “Protecting
God’s Children,” a 3-hour training session which is offered
frequently at local Parishes. In addition, all Gabriel Project Volunteers
who will be working with Moms or their families, will be interviewed
and must consent to a criminal background check.
